Ok, so it's the end of January. We set a bunch of goals at the beginning of the year, and they're nowhere near complete. If I think about everything I still need to accomplish, I get overwhelmed, and nothing gets accomplished. Instead of trying to do it all, I have to focus on one big thing. For me, that's my sobriety. It comes before everything.
I can't promise that I'll be sober at the end of the year - it's a daunting thought. But I can do my very best today, and I can plan on doing the right thing tomorrow. I will pray today, I will pray tonight, and I will start anew in the morning.
Today, it's important to pause and hit the reset button. Write your goals again. Think about what's important. You have a brand new month to work with!
"Father, thank you for getting me through another month. I will continue to put my trust in you. You've carried me this far, and I believe you'll carry me today, too. Thank you for this new life and for another chance to do better. Amen."
